Grown Alchemist is an innovator's dream, a homegrown skincare brand rooted in biotechnology. Not to mention the products coming in the most swoon worthy scents. There is definitely a form of extra pleasure when your humble lip balm is laced in the scent of watermelon and vanilla (in true lip smacker style), or the likes of pink grapefruit and lime. Delicious.
As an exfoliator, their "facial polishing" product is the perfect balance between a gentle product, although still rough enough to give your skin a good scrub and get the job done. Being lightly scented with pink grapefruit its nice and fresh, but nothing overtly overpowering. A "hydra mist" is something that I wouldn't ordinarily use often, although with this product I find that it does come in handy when your skin feels in desperate need of a hydration kick- say on flights, etc.
a. Diptyque "philosykos"
b. Grown Alchemist "hydra mist with desert lime and amino pepper"
c. Grown Alchemist "facial polishing exfoliant with pink grapefruit and glucomannan extract"
d. Grown Alchemist "watermelon and vanilla lip balm"

Hello Grown Alchemist
Wednesday, 17 September 2014
It's the steps, appointments and routines we need to treat our under-maintained selves to after too long living our of a suitcase. Getting the roots re-done, hair layered, the whole shebang. Simply, preparing for a more dignified return to society.
Having barely recovered from almost 24 hours in transit from Amsterdam to Melbourne, I am much in need of some alchemy. Claiming to only use the most potent organic botanical ingredients and powerful natural actives, Australian made Grown Alchemist is ideal for those who are conscious of ridding their skincare routine of harmful chemicals. Botanical lovers rejoice.
Free of many of the artificial skincare nasties our beauty cabinets are laced with- Grown Alchemist's "intensive body cream with rosa damascena, acai and pomegranate" is a sure fix for my cracking skin. I was a little apprehensive of it's rose scent, but thankfully it is blended perfectly with pomegranate that it tastes fresh and almost citrusy.
Generally speaking, I am disproportionally fearful of serums because of my temperamental skin type, so I tend to only use them on the rare occasion if my skin is going through a dry patch or could use some severe hydration. The Grown Alchemist "anti-oxidant treatment serum with rose hip and camellia seed" is a immensely hydrating product because its oily consistency.
The Grown Alchemist "age-repair eye cream with tetra-petide and centella" is (as its name suggests) meant to tackle those signs of ageing in the eye area, but after a much use I found that it was also really good at instantly brightening up my eye area and reducing those dark circles (and all signs of lack of sleep.)
I am by no means strictly a organic skincare user, as I swear by Sunday Riley and Dr. Dennis Gross concoctions, but I do appreciate the goodness of adding such chemically pure products to my routine.
Maybe one day I'll be fully converted to the world of raw bioactive's, but not yet.
Holy Grail
Monday, 23 June 2014
Together, Mecca Cosmetica's s Lip De-Luscious Night Lip Treatment & Eve Lom's Cleanser have become my holy grail beauty products.
As delicious as it's name entails, this is the first product I have tried from Mecca's new namesake range of products, and boy is it a little gem. Moisturising, softening and laced in the delectable scent of bubblegum, it's hard to resist using this day-in-day out. I've mentioned the Eve Lom cleanser before, and after returning to using it after a brief hiatus, I am questioning why I ever stopped. It's balm-like texture gives that mini-facial feeling, not to mention getting rid of every ounce of make-up.
It doesn't get more luxurious than these two.
And bonus points for the pretty as a picture packaging that you just can't bring yourself to discard. Just, lovely.
Fix My Skin (Please)

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
I feel like this is the era of skincare for me. I have always been one to spend no more than the bare minimum on skincare, I am now on the quest to find the best potions and lotions for my temperamental skin type.

Glow Baby Glow.
Contrary to how it may appear, finding that perfect balance of 'glow' when it comes to skin is not the most easy. Treading the thin line of shiny (yes, that dreaded word that has had us stuffing our bags with blotting papers), that fresh faced glow is made even more difficult for those cursed with combination to oily skins. One word; t-zone.
Never the less here is a combination of products all from Hourglass which we have been testing out to achieve that perfect finish, and have subsequently fallen in love with.
a. Hourglass "Nº 28 Primer Serum"
b. Hourglass "Veil Fluid MakeUp No 2"
c. Hourglass "Ambient Lighting Powder in Radient Light"

Luxury Beauty

It's the soft click of the lid, the reflective golden metal, the poised typography. Packaging can be just do damn alluring.
Tom Ford's "Black Orchid Eau De Parfum" is one of a kind, oozing a sensual edge that only Ford could muster. Then there is the world of Diptyque, who we kid you not we would buy without even taking a whiff of the product (yes it has crossed out minds).
We're talking about the kind of products that you would never buy for yourself, but would eagerly hint to your loved ones.
...but nothing says luxury quite like a $2,000 Crème

We don't know where to start with the cult product that is the La Mer "moisturising cream." Although god, it has been vouched for by everyone who is anyone. It's the miracle cream of all miracle creams.
Of course there is a slightly more affordable $250 version of the product, but sometimes we wonder who sits in their marble cladded bathroom slathering their face with a product worth more than a one-way ticket to the other side of the world.
Chanel Metiers d’Art 2012
Flashback
Think back to the Chanel Bollywood extravaganza of Pre-Fall 2012. There were jewelled head pieces, kohl-darkened eyes and beaded tunics. Not to mention bejewelled necklaces which almost stretched from shoulder to shoulder, and knotted, tied and twisted hair.
Karl really had fun with this one; and we're even tempted to recreate Anja Rubik's look this weekend...

Natalie's Beauty Picks
a. Clarins "Beauty Flash Balm": This product can be used to tackle that often 'gross' feeling skin as an instant pick-me-up. It can also be used as face mask (when applied in a thick layer and left on from 10-20 minutes) for a more intense treatment.
b. Lancome "Teint Visionnaire Skin Correcting Makeup Duo": The gorgeous packaging of this foundation also includes a hidden concealer in its lid; perfect for concealing those blemished and dark spots. The foundation itself is relatively new on the market, and perfect for those who love full coverage as well as a bit of a glow. It is indeed full coverage although is long wearing and not cakey upon application.
c. Kiehls "Lip Balm #1": This is my go-to lip balm and I currently have about five laying around my house (each in a different flavour), a lovely product!
d. NARS "Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Roman Holiday": For those who love matte lipstick, this is a blessing in disguise! Not only is it super-easy to apply, but it goes on soft and velvety, yet appears matte.
e. NARS "Laguna Bronzer": Along with their "orgasm" blush, this is one of NARS' cult products, and it is well deserving of its infamous "best bronzer" label.
